CVSR welcomes back the historic steam engine – The Nickel Plate Road 2-8-4 Berkshire No. 765 – from Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society on September 17, 18, 24 & 25, 2016.
“Steam in the Valley” is scheduled for September 17, 18, 24, and 25, featuring three-hour, 25-mile trips along the former Baltimore & Ohio route through Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The trips are a reprise of 765’s visit to the railroad in 2014 and 2015.
The excursions are a partnership of the tourist railroad and the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society, which operates No. 765, built in 1944 by Lima Locomotive Works and based at the society’s shop in New Haven, Ind.
The twice-daily Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad excursions will depart from the tourist railroad’s stations: at its Rockside Station, 7900 Old Rockside Road in Independence; and Akron Northside Station at 27 Ridge Street. Saturday trips will originate at Rockside and Sunday trips at Akron. Ticket prices range from $23 in coach to $50 and $60 in various forms of first class.
