The locomotive is owned by the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society and has made numerous appearances in recent years as part of Norfolk Southern’s 21st Century Steam program. This marks the first trip for the locomotive to SRI since 2011.

NKP 765 will be joining the SRI’s own 2-8-4, former Pere Marquette Berkshire No. 1225,  at this year’s event. No. 765 will operate one half-day excursion each day to Alma. It will head the 8 a.m. departure on Friday and Sunday and the 2 p.m. departure on Saturday. PM 1225 will also pull half-day excursions from the expo with each trip lasting about 4 hours and will include photo runby opportunities for riders.

Train Expo 2014 will also include the Leviathan No. 63. The 4-4-0, built in 2009, is known as one of North America’s newest steam locomotives and was designed after one that worked for the Central Pacific Railroad.
