Renovated Club Car rolls again on Mount Hood Railroad

HOOD RIVER, Ore. — Mount Hood Railroad has acquired a newly renovated ex-Long Island Rail Road club car to be used to host private parties and special events on August 27th.
Mount Hood Railroad  newly renovated ex-Long Island Rail Road Club Car  is a 1955 Pullman car built at the company’s Worcester, Mass., shop.

The “Long Island” Club Car combines the style and nostalgia of a meticulously restored 1950s railroad car with an open floor-plan and modern features that make it an ideal setting for memorable events. The club car amenities include a state-of-the-art sound system, dance floor, performance area, lounge seating, access to full bar service and much more.

LIRR sold the car in 1999 to Mid-Atlantic Rail Car, which then sold it to Iowa Pacific Holdings, the parent company of Mount Hood Railroad. Iowa Pacific employed the car on the Orlando & Mount Dora Railroad in Florida, and the San Luis & Rio Grande Railroad in Colorado before transferring it to Mount Hood. The car will be used to host private parties and special events.
